Mark Brian, Senior Vice President
Mark graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry for Select Students.  Post-graduate education has included the Practicing Forester Institute, Uneven-Aged Silviculture course from the U.S. Forest Service, and many courses on timberland taxation and technical forestry.

After several years with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, Mark returned to East Texas to work as a consulting forester, starting Brian Forestry Consultants in 1983.  This firm was merged with Bird Forestry in 1996, with Mark joining the firm as Senior Vice President, a title he currently holds as a partner in Advanced Ecology, Ltd.

Mark has wide-ranging knowledge in forest management ranging from the southern Rockies to the southeastern US.  In addition to the management of private forestlands, with an emphasis on natural regeneration and uneven-aged silvicultural systems, Mark has extensive experience in large-scale forest inventories and feasibility studies.  Information Technology systems have been an additional area of responsibility.

Special Projects have included tree ring growth analysis, historical resource reviews, forest growth and yield studies, timber tax and trespass appraisals, and expert witness work covering a wide variety of forest resource subjects.

Mark has acted as instructor and speaker at numerous workshops, landowner meetings and forest resource shortcourses, as well as serving on forest resource-related committees at the local, state and national level.

Mark has served as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts, and holds the Eagle Scout award. He is currently a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, the Texas Forestry Association, and is a Registered Forester in the State of Mississippi.

Mark and his wife Beth are the proud parents of three grown children and three grandchildren.
