Biological
Evaluations / Environmental Assessments
An important component of AEL's business is the preparation
of biological evaluations and environmental assessments.
Staff members have extensive knowledge in working with
natural resource management issues and their impact
on business planning. The firm has conducted detailed
evaluations on projects ranging in size from 40 acres
to over 110,000 acres for the US Forest Service, National
Park Service, The Bureau of Land Management and numerous
state agencies and private entities.
AEL has conducted such activities within high profile locations such as Arches
National Park and the Big Thicket National Park, as well as many US National
Forests and State Parks. The firm has worked with equal efficiency for both the
public and private agencies in this arena.
A significant component of AEL's business includes conducting ecological investigations
for municipalities. Such activities normally involve public works projects including
water treatment facilities, intake structures and utility lines. The firm has
also participated in a number of municipal water supply projects. AEL biologists
have conducted evaluations on reservoir, groundwater and constructed wetlands
for water reuse.
AEL also provides a unique blend of services tailored to the oil and gas industry
as well as the forestland investment community. Standard American Society of
Testing Materials (ASTM) guidelines may be modified to
include other issues such as wetlands, threatened/endangered species, timber
stand evaluations, wildlife populations and other ecological considerations.
